Setting goals is extremely important in your marketing efforts, but what does that mean?
We all know that we should have goals but very few of us take the time to outline what our goals are exactly. Or perhaps our goals are too broad, too vague (increase traffic, sales, members... etc.) and feel never-ending.
In order for us to build and expand our brands our goals must be specific and actionable. When we make goals measurable and realistic such as, increasing out facebook fan base by 25 people per month, we can then work backwards and find the best way to achieve this. We have to know what success looks like for a goal to be motivational.
Some Examples:
• I want to increase participation for my Museum's new school programing and will reach out to three new contacts a week.
• I will increase my knowledge of new marketing trends by reading 2 articles/blog posts a week.
• I want to Increase my facebook presence by 25 fans a month and will do so by being active on facebook everyday.
• I want to grow our membership by 5% and will target a new audience with a highly focused email campaign
With the new year approaching it is a perfect time to sit down and take note of our goals for 2012. What do you want to achieve this year?
